Mud

Ceramic pieces on the theme of mud and its different forms. These strange, human-made rocks echo my own super cool collection of pebbles. When I travel, I usually bring back pebbles or small rocks from my trips, as does every kid. Like so many people, I’m fascinated by rocks. They have that raw and natural aspect that I can’t get tired of admiring. They come in so many different sizes and shapes that they never bore. I guess it had an influence on those pieces and my attempts to achieve different textures, colors and surfaces. I used a small rock from Etna to give shape to these ones.
These pieces were made during a week of raku and paper kiln firings with Emile Desmedt in 2017.
